For a while now I have been having some repairs and restoration done to my home where the weather and years have taken a toll on its structure. Among other things I am repainting several areas, the kitchen, the living room and a small sun room. For all the painters out there, you know that there are steps to create a nice look that requires patching holes and cracks along with cleaning of surfaces to get the best results. Time and elbow grease is needed to make the end result something that looks good as well as one that will last for long time.
Although I very much like a clean environment, I don’t always spend enough time to consistently keep everything as spic-N-span as I should. Doing this painting project really points out areas I miss and how much I should work on those on a regular basis. In Psalm 51:10 it says “Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Yes God can create a clean ❤️ heart within us, there is no doubt, yet like our homes and our environment, it’s not a one time shot, it takes our determination as to how we keep our hearts clean.
We have to think on what is good, righteous, pure, holy, every day not just once a week or once a month thinking we will be strong enough to resist attitudes, or actions or desires or any other thing that can put distance between ourselves and God’s plan and purpose for us. Be careful what you spend your time on, the people you spend time with, the things you watch, the things you listen too. May we spend our times wisely, keeping clean our temple that God will be happy to inhabit it.
He is worthy of our praise, worthy of our time, worthy of hearts that are cleaned and ready to be filled with His life, love and compassion.
