Father, no matter the distance that i often take myself from you, You are there when i call on you again. Your love is everlasting, continuous, ever forgiving as if it were all a brand new start. You amaze me at your compassion and your mercy. Your wisdom is always present, as we seek you, you graciously pour out your life into our spirits. You lift us when we are alone, when we are sad You fill us with your joy everlasting. How can there be a greater God and keeper of our souls than you oh Lord, our strength and our redeemer. No words can carry the weight of all you have given and continue to give to us as your children. For who am I that you are mindful of me. There is no good thing that should cause you to be aware and so completely taken by my existence. Praise to you Father, may I never loose sight of the beauty of your presence.
It continues to amaze me how that God will put something in my mind to consider, and then backs it up with events or words from someone else that will go right along the same path. Today was exactly that, with the words of our pastor speaking about the wise use of time and energy directed by God.
This week, because of several things, one of which is the serious illness of a good friend, I have been thinking about time. The swiftness with which things pass through our lives, the never ending string of things that take up our time, the time we need to devote to learn something or to hone our skills, and the always forever need of having more time!! I will be the first to admit that I am not a good manager of my time. I waste far to much of it!! I often overthink things that I have to do, and plan to make sure I have all of the things I think I need to take care of the job or project before I ever start. In doing that a lot of these projects don’t get started or get halfway done because of the lack of materials that I forgot or didn’t think I would need. In any case time gets away from me so I subtract time from other things to replace the time I wasted on the other project/job/hobby/maintenance/repair.
I try my best, but not always, to pray before I start something so that I can be wise, safe, directed and make the best use of the time I am given. Everyday we have X-amount of time for everything that comes our way from sunrise to sunset. We start out each day with good intentions and often sail through it with no problems, while other days are one problem after another with frustrations mounting and headaches that follow us to bed.
Looking at our lives and the years that have passed to this point, reminds us of the speed at which we travel. Always busy, always running, always seeking, for what things? Scripture encourages us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the other things will be added. From the moment our eyes are opened in the morning may we seek God’s direction for our time. May we pray for our families, our friends who are sick, for those who direct our country, for people everywhere who are in need and for ourselves that we may be a reflection of Christ to everyone we meet. From the home, the job, the church, the neighbor, the man on the street corner with the sign that asks for help, for the lost one in the grocery store, the sad one we see in the restaurant sitting alone, there are avenues of need all around us. May we pray for wisdom and peace and love to follow us and be applied through us to all we meet and know.
May our time on Earth be a thing that God considers a treasure to His heart. That we do not waste this precious gift, is a prayer we should pray each day.
Love you my friends, God’s peace be in all of your ways.
John 14:27 is a scripture to read and remind ourselves of every day. Jesus says..”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you-not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
There are tons of things that on a daily basis bring fear to our hearts and anxiety to our minds. The hearts of men and women are failing them because of fear. Fear of responsibilities, of family stresses, of finances, health issues, world situations, government situations, all of these things bring worry and stress into our daily lives.
People use a lot of things to bring peace to their minds, some of those things can help but way to often it only lasts for a short amount of time and then they look for something else to ease their turmoil. Jesus wants us to know that the peace He gives is not a temporary rest or removal of worry, but a peace that goes way beyond human understanding and can consistently manage those things that take over our thoughts and emotions.
It doesn’t mean that we don’t have to ask for it on a daily basis, like a one time treatment and then we are good to go. Every day we need to ask for His peace over specifics, seek His wisdom through the tough stuff we face, the past that haunts us, the present that consumes us, the future that brings fear and steals our sleep.
Christ is our hope, our shelter, our forgiveness, our light in darkness, our rest in the weariness, our peace when none seems available. Let us put each and every situation and moment into His hands so that fear does not consume us and take away our ability to cope. We have a life that is amazing when placed into His hands. I pray His peace becomes your rest, your hope, your love, your life, your everything.
🎉 Happy Fathers Day🎉. I have been, and continue to be, blessed by knowing some amazing fathers. Truly Christ like examples of men who love God, love their families and love those around them. They are an encouraging example to all who meet them, a light and strength in every dark situation. Yes there are plenty of men who are not good fathers, and I pray that God’s wisdom and love would change their hearts so that they can understand the need for their examples to be responsible for their families, the next generation of fathers. My prayers go out for all dads, that your light will never go out, that your love will continue to wrap your families in it’s arms, that your strength and determination will grow mighty through every situation. That you will give God ever day that it may touch souls and bring them into His kingdom. We love and need you fathers. You are God’s hope and peace! 🎉 Happy Fathers Day In Christ 🎉
I am not sure of the exact date when I began writing, I just know it was at least in early Jr High. I still have some of those, mostly poems, from the early years and need to sit and ponder what was on my mind at that time. I thought I would post a few of the early FB posts which still have meaning for me and hopefully will be meaningful for you as well. Thanks for reading.
May this face bear your smile always, may this heart carry your love and compassion, may this life burn as a bright reminder that you are the creator of all things and the light of all that exists. May the glow of the light of dawn be seen in my eyes and be shared with everyone I meet, that others may know You are the light of the world.
We see through a glass darkly, no truth is evident without Gods presence to make it real. He is the filter through which all things should pass, the weight by which all things should be measured. The hearts of men are inherently evil and destructive, how can we trust the words which flow from them? They stand before us as actors upon a stage, puppets controlled by hands of disruption. Bear no thought to their lies but hold Gods truth as our salvation.
I often think about the depth and the shallowness of this life, how quickly we cast aside the things we strive for when we become faced with greeting eternity. We spend our lives grasping at straws, trying to grab the brass ring, saving up things that moths and rust destroy only to realize how false they have been in making a life worth eternal weight. Someone told me long ago that we are but a skins thickness away from eternity, and that is true. Life is so much more frail than we believe. We feel as if there will never be an end to what we now see, that each day rolls into another and another. There is a time and a place under Heaven for this mortal act to be finished. The curtain will fall, the lights will go out and the audience will go home. For those who remain, after we leave this stage, they will go on with their production until each of them, as well, will see the last house light go dim. May we bring into the presence of God, arms full of the lives of those we have helped to know Him, those we have encouraged, those we have held and cried with to comfort them on their journey. Let God say of us, well done, not for the money we made, the houses we lived in, the cars we drove, the clothes we wore or the name we made for ourselves, but for the character of God that brought to the world a better life for others, the love for the lost, the peace of Christ, the hope for eternity. May we seek His face and His presence always so that we may be found faithful until the end.
Working outside yesterday and the Lord sent an overseer to make sure i was staying on track. I’ve always imagined that when God creates all of the insects, birds and other wildlife, that they start out completely white and He hand paints them with their amazing designs and brilliant colors. It shows His meticulous care in forming each and every one of His beautiful creations. We take ourselves so critically always focusing on our flaws and shortcomings, yet God reminds us that He is so concerned with the very sparrows that not a single one falls without Him noticing it happens and how much more important we are to Him. May you see your importance and beauty through God’s eyes and give praise to Him for your awesome creation and place in this life. You are an amazing design, fearfully and wonderfully made and the Heavens rejoice in His handiwork.
I understand that God understands that our normal routines can be interrupted at any given time. So how well do we handle it? I wish I could say that when things happen out of the norm, which seems to be daily anymore, that I respond well with a chuckle and smile and go about fixing them and return again to our regular broadcast being no worse for wear. Yeah, not so much. Perhaps it’s my own brand of OCD which wants control over all things under the sun in my world, or perhaps the stage of life where I am – tired a lot and have become just a cranky old codger!! Whatever the reason, I struggle with that and try not to explode and become someone I wouldn’t want to be around if I saw them in public.
Life is full of routine. Life is also full of abnormal. How we react and respond is totally an individual struggle that needs to be put into God’s hands daily. From the time we open our eyes in the morning until we close them at night, we need to place every thing into His hands. The good, the joyful, the perfect, the imperfect, the sadness, the loss, the struggle. In all of it, no matter how we are stretched to our limit, there has to be a stopping and regathering of our spirit to recommit and refocus ourselves. God doesn’t fail to respond, He will calm our spirit, He will let us know His grace is sufficient in our time of need, no matter how often those needs come. Be still, as much as you can be, and know that He is God and He understands life.
God is never surprised when our normal is hit by abnormal, He is always cool under pressure!! ❤️
There are many wonderful articles written surrounding Memorial Day. Many eloquent words far better than mine, speaking of the brave soldiers who went into battle fully knowing that there was a great chance that they would not be returning home to those who loved them, those whom they loved.
Thinking of these brave men and women, I have to believe that they put a lot of thought into what the outcome could be as they parachuted from planes, stepped out of landing transports on beaches, made their way into jungles or jumped from trucks into sand dunes. I believe these individuals considered the cost of what they were doing. It was something that they were not taking lightly, this commitment, this pledge to protect and defend. Every day, hundreds of thousands of individuals in the armed forces, police, fire fighters, and first responders place their lives on the line to protect, defend and rescue the lives of people they do not know. Because they have considered the cost, they are willing and ready to place all that they know and love into God’s hands as they fulfill an oath, a promise, a heart felt desire to rescue, free and remove from danger lives all around the world. May we pray for them, for their families and friends as they step into these rolls. May we lift up so many families whose loved ones did not return from battles throughout our history.
As Jesus said in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” To lay down one’s life for those around our world who are in danger, captivity, facing torture, abuse and ultimate loss of life, those courageous individuals should be on our minds daily. May God protect them, strengthen them, give them peace and hope on their mission. May their families and loved ones know they are not alone as they go into battle. May the ones left behind Know They Will Never Be Forgotten.
I was reading in James chapter 3 this morning and he was talking about our speech. In today’s world everyone thinks they are free to say just about anything they want simply because they have the “right” to do so no matter what the outcome.
Scripture, on the other hand, seems to take a different road, the One Less Traveled. It speaks of how the tongue, although it is a small member of the body, it boasts great things. And that the tongue is a fire, setting on fire the course of human existence. We can certainly see how much damage conversations have caused due to the hatred of individuals toward another, toward groups of individuals. Scripture also says that with the tongue we bless God and curse people who are made in God’s likeness. Free Speech is the kind that comes from above, not from jealousy and selfish ambition. From the heart the mouth speaks. If we have the true love of God within us, the wisdom that comes from being near to God, that wisdom is first pure, peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits. It is nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy and this fruit is sown in peace among those who make peace.
May we consider the words of our mouth and the things that our heart dwells on, what we meditate on, that they be acceptable in God’s sight, who is our strength and our redeemer. Truly “Free” Speech is free of hatred, bias, envy, greed, prejudice, manipulation, bullying, lies, and anything that puts us above God and His principles. May our Speech be Free from the wages of sin.
I know that I am a day behind in posting here about Mother’s Day, but I still wanted to share something I shared several years back yet I feel it holds true, and will for all time.
I am so thankful for the amazing compassion of God and His creativity that brings to life His love and strength in the form of our mothers. Within this creation, God packed so many wonderful aspects of himself. Within a mother you will find His never ending love, His strength, His wisdom, one who is always seeking us out no matter where we are, to tell us that we are loved. Within our mothers there are countleIs times of encouragement. Times when we were hurting, discouraged, feeling that there was no meaning to our lives, yet from them came words of love, countless hours of listening, letting us know that this too will pass and that we will be stronger for those days of sadness. Her words of excitement came for achievements, honors and victories. There can never be a replacement for these wonderful souls placed in charge of our lives from infancy unto eternity. The lasting impression our mothers leave upon us will forever mold who we are.
Thank you Lord for these wonderful, brave, strong, compassionate, tender, encouraging spirits you knew would help to lead us to you. May the Lord Bless and strengthen all of the moms I have been blessed to know. Whether young or old you are loved beyond words. For I believe you are an image of a wise and Loving God.
I have always enjoyed old things. I enjoy aged machinary, tools, houses, but cars especially. I love the stories of how they began and the people behind their origin. I love thinking of what these old vehicles have seen in their lifetime and the individuals who proudly purchased them and drove them. I have a respect for the designers and engineers making breakthroughs with every new model that came off the line. I love the history of man’s creativity in so many aspects of life.
Hebrews 12:1 reminds us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. These witnesses, scripture says, should help us to put off every weight and the sin that easily ensnares us and run with patient endurance the race that has been set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
We have had witnesses in our lives, growing up, that proved to us that no matter what was faced, God provided and came through in the hardest of times. I have always loved being around older, golden aged individuals who told stories of their lives growing up. They spoke with confident proof of battles faced, scars received, loved ones lost but never wavered in their faith, for their God always gave grace in times of trouble. I miss so many of my relatives who have passed on and are no longer here. I miss sitting at their feet receiving their words of wisdom with gentle smiles given through true love. Witnesses for us come in all ages and all backgrounds. Each of them carrying truth, hope and love that represents the Father God’s purpose and reassurance that He will never leave us or foresake us. Let us respect those who have gone before us, their example in which to find strength. Let us respect those of all ages who hold fast to the promises of Christ so that we also can be considered one of the faithful who shines a light into another life to bring them into the knowledge of God.
